By the way, in your previous post you said “Found more info about the 50 00 00 and 50 00 02 adresses.” It appears you meant 51 00 00 and 51 00 02 - if so, you might want to edit that post.

Thanks for attending me to that mistake, it’s corrected now.

Based on that, I did a bit more research. I took a look at an 8L26OS_.PGM (MOXF firmware) file, using a hex editor, and found a section headed with “YC-3B”. It has CC# and other assignments, and is apparently a template for that VST. It’s followed by others for FM8 and Massive (Native Instruments VSTs), Trilian (Spectrasonics), Nexus 2 (reFX), etc.

Perhaps the YC-3B response to the Parameter Request is due to it being the default loaded VST template. I suppose you could try selecting a different VST template and see if the response changes.

This info is very welcome, thank you.
I will check what responses a different template will bring.

Further searching the firmware with a hex editor might provide other clues, if you’re so-inclined.

Sadly, Yamaha leaves very little traces in their firmware but any trace is worth following. 4.5Mb is not much nowadays but when showing it in a hex editor it still is a huge pile. ;-)

ZIP file 2 of the undocumented sysex’s.
This file is about the dump requests in voice mode.

There is some overlap with the parameter requests as in some cases it doesn’t matter if a parameter- or dump- request is used.

Sometimes a dump request can be used to gain a block of parameters, but in other occasions this doesn’t seem to work.

It doesn’t take too long if you’re searching for something specific. Otherwise, I agree that it’s a lot to go through.

Indeed the response changes when selecting a different template, I added info and updated the ZIP file. :-)

Nothing new found, but part of what was in the “parameter requests in voice mode” also works in performance mode.

Mixing mode doesn’t add anything to the song and pattern modes.

Some additional stuff is found in the “MIDI PARAMETER CHANGE TABLE (BULK CONTROL)” that I will try to figure out. Has to do with “Remote VST templates bulk dump”.

For now the big bulk of the search is over. I’ll be focusing on the unknown messages and try to find out what they mean and can be used for. :-)

hi.

would it be possible to someone to post the sysex command to change the Midi Transmit channel to 2 (Utility->Midi->CH->KBDTransmit Channel) for a moFX8?  It is referenced on pages 106 and 100 of the Data List.

This does not work:  F0 43 10 7F 14 00 00 0B 01 F7

Im fairly sure it needs to be something like....  F0 7F 7F 04 05 ???????????  F7

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

You’re asking about SysEx for a MOXF8. However, you’ve listed pages that would apply for the MOX Data List, not the MOXF one, and your member profile indicates you have a Motif XF. Which model do you have?

ncc500 -

This does not work:  F0 43 10 7F 14 00 00 0B 01 F7

That won’t work for a MOXF. It’s correct for a MOX.

ncc500 -

Sorry, but no.

I’m going to presume that you do indeed want MOXF SysEx…
F0 43 10 7F 1C 00 00 00 0B 01 F7
...should work.

Data List for the MOXF:

I hope that helps.
