Hy to all! I have a Motif rack ES since 2005 but I’ve never succeeded in connecting it to a PC to download all my settings.

I have windows 7 - 64bit. Yamaha studio manager V.2.1.2 installed correctly. “USB” as MIDI IN/out set on motif rack. When connecting the usb cable to PC, the USB (Motif) seems to be recognized (how can I be sure of this?).

Then, when I try to upload on PC Motif data, after few seconds the message “bulk receive timeout error” appears.

What can I Do?

Thanks in advance!
Giovanni

Welcome to the forum.

Which firmware version is installed in your Rack ES? To find out, press and hold [EXIT], [PAGE>], and [MUTE/SEL/ENTER] buttons while powering on the Rack ES.

Could you help?

The current OS/firmware version is 1.03, and it’s possible that the problems you’re having are due to the old firmware.

The new OS can be downloaded here…
https://usa.yamaha.com/support/updates/21147_en.html

After unzipping the OS download, be sure to read the “Readme” file and carefully follow the instructions. Unfortunately, you may have a “Catch-22” situation - you might not be able to back up data until after the OS/firmware is updated.

For anyone who doesn’t know what “Catch-22” refers to:
