Hi
I’m trying for the first time to save to a USB thumb drive. When I try to format it comes up with an error. (-1) I believe. And when I skip formatting and try to save it says it is read only.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Ron

Welcome to the forum.

A likely cause is that the USB drive is incompatible with the ES. Unfortunately, the Motif ES Compatible USB Device List (http://download.yamaha.com/file/53376) is short and dated.

The drive should be formatted FAT16, and preferably be no larger than 2 GB, although larger ones might work - the list shows ones in the 4 - 16 GB range. If the drive can’t be formatted on the ES, it can usually be done on a computer.

If the drive you’re trying to use is a large modern one, it may have U3 System, SecureAccess, or similar software on it. You might be able to remove such and reformat the drive, but I’d suggest first trying to use an older/smaller drive.
