Wow, can’t believe my fortune that this forum is still active! I recently picked up an S90Es, a keyboard that I’ve wanted for a lot of years. I’ve begun programming it for my first gig with it in two weeks.

What I’m wondering is if there is a way to set the organ patches such that the sustain pedal can function as the momentary on/off switch for the Leslie speed. I want to be able to use the same pedal for sustain on my piano patches and the Leslie on the organ patches.

I thought I found an article once describing how to do it, but have been unable to dig it up.

Thanks, Rob

Hi Rob,

I have a S70XS and don’t know how the menu setup compares to that of an ES.

I know I once set up something like that - as the piece I was playing had a lot of Leslie changes in it (’Time is Tight’ by Booker T and MG’s).  I actually used a footswitch for slow/fast Leslie. I don’t recall though whether this was programmed at voice level or was a global controller setting.

If no-one answers your question for the ES, I will dig into my system and provide some more details. Might at least give you a few clues to figure things out. Am away right now, would be a few weeks from now,

Phil

On the S70XS, it is possible to edit the voice and amend the controller settings. My organ voice setting normally uses the modulation wheel for leslie, but when I change it to Foot Switch it does not work.

Anyway, I do recall now that I previously amended the global controller settings via Utility/Controllers/ and then assigned Foot Switch to modulation. I re-tested that and it works fine, although on the S70XS I need to hold the foot switch on continuously for ‘fast’ and release for ‘slow’. This is a setting that I rarely use , normally the Foot Switch is set to increment through Program Changes, and I use the Mod wheel for the leslie speed. Have re-tested on keyboard to confirm what I have posted here.

(Using Boss FS-5U pedal)

I do this on an old S90.  I use a latching footswitch from a Peavey PA head. (Its either On or Off). I plug it into the “assignable” footswitch jack.  This requires that you edit and save any organ voice you want to do this on.  So you need to go in and edit the voice parameters to reassign the modulation to the assignable footswitch.  Works great. The S90 is in the car in the case right now.  But if you need more help on how to edit voice let me know. I’ll look to remind myself the details.
