As far as I can understand, Motif XF and MOXF have the same WaveROM, thus Voices are exchangable between the one and the latter.

But when it comes to User samples/waveforms what happens if MOXF has no user RAM but only Flash RAM to store them?

Will load a Motif XF file containing User samples/waveforms stored in FL1 or FL2 in a MOXF?

While loading will I have to redirect User samples/waveforms using FL1 (Motif XF) to FL1 (MOXF) operation?

Thanks

Those are very good questions, since the MOXF claims compatibility with XF files that contain Waveforms.

In fact, an XF file could even contain User Waveforms that were originally in the 128MB SDRAM of the XF - what happens to those? On an XF, there are several Load options to deal with the situation.

In fact, it seems that on MOXF, Motif XF files are not directly compatible… :-(
Frozen MOXF
and Bad_Mister had to solve manually the problem…

I thought that editing a Motif XF file with the Motif Wave Editor from J. Melas was the solution, but perhaps I’m wrong because it saves in XS/SF format. not compatible with the MOXF.

We need help…

No, not at all. Please, don’t over think it. When you create an ALL data file for a Motif XF, the XF places the data in specific locations (folders) within the file. When you go to load that file into a MOXF you just simply pick the data you wish to load (that’s your responsibility) the MOXF will do the rest. The MOXF does all the heavy lifting.

If you decide you want to load a Voices whose samples are in the Motif XF SDRAM (USR) memory, the MOXF does not care, it goes and gets whatever it needs from the USR folder and loads it. You don’t have to direct the data anywhere, the MOXF knows it only has one place (the Flash Board) to put it… It automatic.

All you do is direct the Voice to a location, or the Bank to a location. The MOXF automatically directs the Waveforms and Samples, it truly is a “no-brainer” you don’t have to direct or redirect the Waveform/Samples.

If you choose a Voice whose data is in FL1, the MOXF will go into the FL1 folder of the Motif XF All file and grab whatever it needs to load and play what you asked it to load.

It is far less complicated, than you might think.

What you may not be seeing is, the Motif XF has more USER BANK locations (512 v 384) and more Performance locations (512 v 256), so you are going to have to be selective about what you load.

Waveforms and Samples are never overwritten, new data is simply added to the lowest numbered empty location on the Flash board. The FL BOARD can hold 2048 Waveforms, 8192 Samples, whether it is a 512MB or the 1GB board. Your board will report full when you exceed any one of these specs.

The WAVEFORM EDITOR is for the Motif XS and XF, obviously the MOXF was not out when the Editor was made. You can probably expect either an update or new version to support the MOXF, shortly.
MOXF sales have been stellar!!!!!

Problems with using the current Waveform Editor does not mean you will make a file that is compatible with the new MOXF. I was not able to figure out what the problem the programmer was having with the creating the file with the Editor. I’ve used it successfully, but there are obviously some issues that need to be addressed because not everyone seems to have the same success… It would be totally serendipitous for the Waveform Editor to work 100% without full testing. The devil is always in the smallest details.

To convert Libraries with 100% success! use the Motif XF to create the file. At least until an update verifies compatibility of the Waveform Editor with the MOXF series. Ok?

Hi,
after switching off and on my MOXF8 I had to reload Neo Soul Keys the x3a file again, because it was not stored in my user banks anymore.
Did I do something wrong? Is there a special setting not to load it after each start?
Thanks & BR, Chris

Do you have PowerOn Auto Factory Set turned on? Make sure that the box to select that doesn’t have an ‘x’ in it, if you don’t want User data to be reset to factory defaults each time the MOXF is powered on. After setting PowerOn Auto to OFF (no ‘x’ in the box), press [ENTER] to store the change. See page 150 of the MOXF Reference Manual for details.
