Hello - I’m new here and have been trying to find a forum who has discussed the Yamaha Pocketrak 2G. I live in SWest England and I hoped someone could throw some light on this problem for me.
It can be set in Standby mode to monitor the sound so that I get a “live” audio boost from the piano making it sound 20% more powerful. However, lately it has developed a fault. Using its own built-in microphones the left channel is seriously down in volume and after a few seconds in standby mode it starts making a fearful scratching wooly white noise fizzing sound that comes and goes randomly but completely ruins the sound. If I plug in an external mic and switch it to MIC ALC mode the problem stops but it appears to make the output MONO (but that could be the cheap mic I’m using) I’ve got a decent mic on order to try but I really would prefer to use the built-in microphones as they were so good - the quality was superb. Can the device be repaired or would Yamaha tell me it’s bricked and I need a new one?
Anyone had experience of faults with the Pocketrak 2G?

Thanks lots for that. I’ll copy paste that and print it out for future reference.
