Hi Talented People

I’m really desperate. Due to a Problem with my former
Laptop I bought a new one, and need your precious
Help - (if possible, in a step by step description) –
Or by referenced videos or Docs, in order to Set Up
my Motif & Cubase5.

I’ve already Downloaded and Installed the software Below
To run under Win7 64Bit:

- USB Midi-Driver 3.1.2
- XS EditorStandalone/ VST 1.6.0
- XS Extension V1.5.1
- Studio Manager 2.3.1 (already installed)
Available ate http://download.yamaha.com/

- MAUDIO Fast Track Ultra (SoundCard)

I’ve seen already the PDF doc. “AI4_USB_WinXP”, but the
standalone Version of XS Editor doesn’t appear in the list for
Adding to Studio Manager, and can’t get no sound from
VST Editor. I’ve noticed a Caption at Wditor Window saying
“(No Audio)”. So I’ve Unninstalled everything and returned to
A starting point.

Regarding Motif XS Song Import, in order to continuing
My work in the Cubase5, let me please put 2 Questions
(has to do with step 2 – Xs Editor):

1 – How can I import the Sounds and Mixes into
The Standalone Version, in step 2?

2 – It’s possible to accomplish the process without having
The Motif XS7 pluged in to the computer? In other words;
Can I take My LapTop and a PEN with the *.XOA file
And do the Import the song procedure Into Cubase5 In
another Studio, where I do not have my Motif XS?
If so, please care to show me How.

Once more, Million thanks for all your Help.

Studio Manager is no longer used if you have Motif XS Editor Standalone/VST version 1.6.0… just FYI

1 – How can I import the Sounds and Mixes into
The Standalone Version, in step 2?

The question is not clear. Your Motif XS Editor Standalone/VST can be run either way. That is you can launch it independently or you can launch it as a VST3 plug-in within Cubase - either way, the IMPORT function of Cubase actually opens the ALL data file .X0A - you create your SONG on the Motif XS, you SAVE the file to a USB drive… you plug the USB drive into the computer and you can extract the MIDI data, the AUDIO Data, and the MIXING data from that file.

2 – It’s possible to accomplish the process without having
The Motif XS7 pluged in to the computer? In other words;

The Motif XS can be miles away ... all you need is the .X0A file to import the MIDI data to MIDI tracks of Cubase, Audio Data recorded to the Integrated Sampling Sequencer will be imported to Audio Track of Cubase, and you can open the Editor and read the MIXING setup from the same File.

You will not be able to playback your SONG from Cubase because the MIDI data and the MIXING setup requires Motif XS to make sounds. The Audio Tracks recorded to the Integrated Sampling Sequencer will sound

Hope that helps - if you need more information, please post back here.

Hi BadMister

Please forgive my lack of Knowledge in the Matter.

Many thank’s for your answer.

Regarding Installation:
I’m going to uninstall the Studio Manager as you said.

Now I’ve installed:
- USB Midi-Driver 3.1.2
- XS EditorStandalone/ VST 1.6.0
- XS Extension V1.5.1

Can you help me on this Software Configuration Process
and Cubase5, In order to able to use them in my music
production? (in a step by step notes, if Possible)

Some troubles I’m Having:
1) I’ve Imported a Song into Cubase5 and, although I cheked the
“all mediafiles”, the track 16 with Audio Data recorded to the Integrated
Sampling was not imported.

2) With VST Edittor Opened inside the Cubase, I can’t ear no Sound
When playing the Keyboard.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I’m really desperate BadMister.
Wish All the beste to you.

Make sure your Cubase is updated to the latest version of Cubase 5 which I believe is 5.5.3, please check Steinberg.net. Because you may need to update to 5.5.0 before you update to 5.5.3

Also update your Motif XS Extension to version 1.6.1

2) With VST Edittor Opened inside the Cubase, I can’t ear no Sound
When playing the Keyboard.

You will only hear sound if you are using an audio interface… The driver for the audio interface must be selected as the audio return within the Motif XS Editor VST

Go to FILE > VSTi Setup > make sure the Main Left/Right is using the driver for your audio interface and that the 1/4” Left/Right outputs of your XS are connected to the audio interface, and that it is connected to your speakers.
