I recorded a Performance to a Pattern on the Motif XF8. Now I want to record it in my DAW (Cubase 7). Is there a way to automatically synchronize the Audio to Cubase’s Tempo? I matched tempos in the Motif/Cubase and I used the count-in click and did my best to start playing on the first beat. It seems like there should be a better way. Auto-start recording in Cubase? Pass as MIDI and quantize? Am I missing something else?
Thanks!

Yes. set Cubase to be the master MIDI clock and to send that clock to your XF, and set the XF to slave to and follow transport commands from Cubase. In Cubase go to TRANSPORT > PROJECT SYNCHRONIZATION SETTING… > MIDI CLOCK OUT > MIDI CLOCK DESTINATION set it to Motif XF Main (port 1)
In the Motif XF
The Motif XF will now start and stop when you start and stop Cubase, and the XF will run at the tempo as set in Cubase. |

I think he meant “The Motif XF will NOW start and stop when you start and stop Cubase”. |

Thanks for the Reply. This sounds like the solution. I will try it out this weekend.
Thanks!

yes I meant NOW… Typing on an iPad can have results that are unexpected as it tries to anticipate what you are writing. You wind up having to proof everything twice :-) thanks. |
