I have a couple of questions.  I have a Yamaha Motif ES8.

How do I hook up two keyboards (two outputs) into (one input) one speaker?

If I need a converter, mixer, or something...what would you suggest (something that is in a modest price range).

Is there a way to send an independent feed to the house soundboard while allowing me to control a monitor with the volume controls on the keyboard without changing the house controls?

Thanks.

You can run the second keyboard to the A/D INPUT on the Motif ES’s back panel - it will combine the signals to the Motif ES output. The AD INPUT has a separate PART that can be routed to the main outputs or assigned to its own Assignable Outputs. You can even use the SYSTEM EFFECTS on board the ES (Reverb/Chorus).

As soon as you mention creating an “independent feed to the house” you are talking about having a mixer on stage with you… which is the best way to go. The function of a mixer is to give a variety of options for inputting and outputting signals.

Visit your local music store - and view your options. Do not assume they don’t know anything - ask your questions, if they honestly don’t know, ask them to call and find out. If they are a Yamaha dealer they are seconds away from being able to get you an answer. If they don’t know, ask them to call Yamaha for suggested systems.

In general, you will find small format mixers that will do the job:
Some simply pass the signal and get the job done.
Others (which cost a bit more) cost a bit more because they can enhance your signal while getting the job done.

When you mentioned ‘modest price’, that varies per user… realize that you do get what you pay for - think about your requirements, take a look at several options and get the best your pocketbook will allow - would be my advice.

And if at all possible think stereo. Music and life itself is better in stereo. Yes it is more expensive than mono (but again, you get what you pay for...).

Hope that helps.
