i think my right output went bad on my motif rack. is it possible to just record using the l\mono output. i know it wouldn’t be stereo but is this a big issue, also would it be possible to make a mono signal in stereo in cubase 6? thanks for any answers.

i think my right output went bad on my motif rack.

If you are not sure (how can you not be sure?) but if you are not you should take it to an authorized repair center and have it looked at. We see you are in Georgia - if that is the Georgia in the USA go here:

is it possible to just record using the l\mono output.

Yes.

i know it wouldn’t be stereo but is this a big issue,

Of course, it is a big issue, what if one of your ears stopped working? Would you visit a doctor or would you make believe that its not a big issue?

also would it be possible to make a mono signal in stereo in cubase 6?

No. It is not the same.

Hope you smiled and decide to have your Motif Rack checked - your music is worth it!!!

if i plug headphones into the left and right jacks on back i only get sound from the left (even in the right port). right side is faint but my pan is at 12:00. if i plug into the phones port on the front of the motif i get stereo sound fine. i also noticed that in cubase the audio input meters show l&r;strong signals and audio playback is in stereo so it might not be a big deal.

on another topic, i’m using cubase6. with the motif in voice mode and with an instrument track created in cubase, i have sound on the track, can change programs from cubase and see them change on the rack and can record but i want to use the motif in multi mode. i have tried creating instrument and midi tracks but can’t get sound to produce from the rack. can you tell me what i’m doing wrong here? thanks for the help.

I don’t know if you are kidding me or not - but don’t plug your headphones into the jacks on the back - that doesn’t tell you anything. Plug your headphones into the jack marked for Headphones - which is on the front panel of the Motif Rack.

You are kidding me right?

We’ll take this question seriously.

First: An Instrument Track (as defined by Cubase) is used for a synth that is only single timbre, not a multi-timbral module.

When you want to use the Motif-Rack as a multi-timbral module, you cannot use INSTRUMENT Tracks in Cubase.

You need to use a separate MIDI TRACK for each PART. The Motif-Rack in MULTI mode has 16 PARTS. So you can use 16 separate MIDI Tracks. NOT INSTRUMENT Tracks.

Here’s the simple math:
With INSTRUMENT Tracks used this way, it would require that you have 16 Motif-Racks, each in VOICE mode.
With MIDI Tracks you can use 16 of them and just one single Motif Rack set in MULTI mode.

Make sense?

i was only doing that to see if sound was coming from the ports. i don’t monitor like that but i was just testing for sound. thanks

Yes, I know that - but it still is wrong to test for sound that way. The headphone jack is TRS (tip-ring-sleeve/stereo), the outputs on the back are not (they are TS/mono) so you are not going to get any conclusive results like that - in fact, it might lead you to believe that one side is not working (when it fact it is) - I am just trying to make it clear that it is the wrong way to test the unbalanced outputs of your Motif Rack. Even as a test, it is wrong.
