Someone please post here when the pdf manual is made available, it should be some time today.

I look forward to reading it!

If it looks good I think I’ll pick up an XF6.

All I’ve seen thus far is the brochure.

“If the manual looks good??!?!?”
You ARE talking about a Yamaha Manual...the ones written in Japan-English?

I am partially kidding of course, but that’s only because I have “learned” who to read the manual. They pose a “learning curve” all their own.

I am certain...that there will be Power User Guides for the new features as well as an Introductional DVD by Athan (well done and enomously helpful) and “maybe” an XF Master Class with The Bad 1”, Tones and Blake.

I take it upon myself to compliment the Senior Techs for what they do here and with the various support material they offer. I have know “TheBad 1” for many years and have gone to see Tones do demos on a few occasions. I contend that they and Keyfax’ Motifator.com have been essential to the success of the Motif Family of keyboards and workstation at this “grassroots” level and don’t get anywhere near the credit they deserve. I’ve been here since ‘02 and with DaveP, FrankE, Wellie,SpongeBob and so many others that chime in (nice to see Domitryco back) Mo-z,The Guttman”...this seems to have served many very well.
Just a thought....my 2 cents.

Mmmm… First time I saw “Breakback Mountain” voice in DataList document I thought it’d be that typical acoustic guitar sound you can hear in the movie.

But the “E.Dst” sub-category for that voice disappointed me a lot…

Seriously, no new acoustic guitar sounds on Motif XF?

Having had a quick look through, it does appear to be an improvement over the XS manual and I’m sure much of it can also be applied to the XS.
It will be interesting to see what is included in the upcoming XS OS update.

Well, this is now titled “Motif XF Reference Manual” and there are quite a few sections missing comparing to Motif XS Owner’s Manual, so I wonder if there are now two separate manuals, the Owners Manual/Quick Start and the Reference Manual, similarily to Korg approach?

In particular, there are no introductory sections and Start Guide, and no Appendix with Display Messages, Troubleshooting, Hardware Installation and Specifications. The Reference Manual starts right with Basic functions and now features a Function tree constructed of all screens and subscreens, which replaces the Mode table.

The essential parts of the Reference manual are 99% the same as for the Motif XS, except a few different screens in Voice and Performance play, Sampling (the same as for Motif XS OS v1.50), File load/save, and Screen setup. There is also a cute red heart icon for Favourite Voices. There should probably be some more changes forthcoming in the OS v1.10.

The preset banks are the same, the new Voices are in the USER bank 1, and the new drum kits are in the USER bank programs 1-8. The new performances are in the USER bank 1, the rest is the same as for the XS.

Motif XS manual should be included along with the new ‘XF reference’ manual.

There are indeed a separate Owner’s Manual, Reference Manual and Data List. The Owner’s Manual is a book provided with the unit, the Reference Manual and Data List are provided as PDF (on the CDROM) in the box. You will notice that the REFERENCE MANUAL is cross-referenced to take you to specific subjects quickly and efficiently.

The OWNER’S MANUAL:
Provides overall explanations of the basic functions for each mode. Please use the Owner’s Manual for an overview of the basic and more important operations of the MOTIF XF. If you need more detailed information or instructions on specific functions, use the Reference Manual described below.

Analising the new waves on the Waveform List, I have found that there are lots of Timpani waves (multi velocity sampled).

And even a multi velocity sampled Banjo :(

Where are the vintage instument?

When can we expect the full owners manual to be available online, as it is with the XS?
