Can I record audio directly to flash (internal or portable USB flash device) as I play the keyboard from Voice or Performance mode?

I think I read that you can record audio from sequencer output in song and pattern mode.

Any further detail on this in a general sense is appreciated.

On the S90XS, Motif XS, and Motif XF you can record and playback stereo audio directly to connected USB memory devices like thumb drives and hard disks . You can do this in any mode and record as long as you like up to the size of the memory device.  So the answer to your question is yes.

The flash option boards are for a different purpose , they are connected to the tone generator for playing sounds from the keyboard.
