I’ve read all people have to say, but I’m still missing a step. If I load a .wav into a track through song or pattern mode - how do i turn the note receive off so that is plays without holding the note? If I load the .wav into the voice on a specific key - it doesn’t play...and when I go to song mode or pattern mode, the specified key plays the drum sound it’s supposed to - not the .wav I loaded into it? So how do I load a .wav into song or pattern mode so that I don’t have to hold the key down? |

This is not possible.
When you load a WAV you are asked to provide a track and key note. The WAV file should be imported to a different track/key note than the one playing the drums!! Once the WAV is loaded, playing the key note will play the sample. If you want the sample to loop, you must edit the parameters to change from one-shot (default) to loop. Then record the note that triggers the sample, go into edit mode and extend the length of the note to however long you need the loop to play. Just in case the loop is not perfectly timed, a better strategy is to record the note for the duration of the loop (say one bar, two bars, whatever) and then copy that section of the track as many times as needed. |

You can do this in a different way. If you edit a drum kit and assign your sample to a drum key, then you will find it plays without holding the note. To force it to stop mid-way through you would use the ‘alternate group’ function which permits you to cut the sample off with another key assigned to the same ‘alternate group’. Your profile tells me you have an XS. More details on using drum kits can be found on P130 of the XS user manual.
You never load a wave file into a specific key. You load a wave file into a voice or a drumkit which makes use of a specific key to play it. As you change mode, any given specific key on the keyboard will change function/sound depending on the programming of the voice/performance/track currently selected. I think you may find it useful to investigate assigning samples into elements within USR voices as opposed to loading them directly into the sequencer tracks. Load samples as User Waveforms and then create a User voice that has an element that uses that waveform. Then you can assign that user voice to a sequencer track and it should behave as you expect. i know what ur talking about. MY method is that i assign it to a key right? then i press record and play and then i hold the key (which is C3 right?) then after that its there, i dont have to hold it BUT when i turn off the keyboard and turn it back on i have to do it again ~_~ |
