Hi,

Does anyone have an MW10 or MW12 usb mixing desk? I’ve had mine for a a while (along with my MO6 and Cubase AI4) but I’m having a problem…

I recently got some new VST instruments, but I’m I can’t seem to pick up MIDI in Cubase. Does anyone know if the desk can convert audio to MIDI (as there is no MIDI ports on it) or do I need to buy a MIDI cable? Would a usb cable be enough from the host port on the MO6?

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks

There are no MIDI ports on the MW10/12

And from your post, I understand you dont know what MIDI is.
What you have to do is, set up the MIDI via USB with the MO6 and your computer.
Once you have done that, you can open up your VST instrument in a VST host sequencer like Cubase, Sonar or Logic and set some things up here and there in the sequencer and then you’re ready to jam.

But the problem is, I neither have the MO6 or the MW.
I dont know specifically how to set up the MO6 USB MIDI with your computer.

But this is what I did for my XS.

Go to http://www.yamahasynth.com and look for downloads for MO6. I searched for XS.

1. Download and Install YAMAHA USB MIDI Driver
2. Download and Install YAMAHA Studio Manager
3. Download and Install YAMAHA MO Editor. ( In my case, XS Editor )

These must be installed in the same order, or the setup might not work.
After all these process, you can finally connect your MO to the computer.

And in my XS, I remember having made some change in the set up. I changed MIDI to USB. Earlier it was mLan. So I guess there is some change that you have to make on the MO also.

If all these goes well, you have your MO almost ready.
You wont get there very fast, since you are doing this for the first time.
But with time and probably someone else s’ help you could do this.
I hope BM reads this post and gets you help.

And yeah I forgot

MIDI IS NOT AUDIO
AUDIO IS NOT MIDI

MIDI is just a set of commands and notes.
MIDI doesnt give you the audio. It just asks your keyboard to play this note at this time.
