So the extensions 1.5.0 that can be downloaded from yamahasynth.com on the rack-xs page does not include a template for the rack-xs, instead just xs6, 7, and 8.

No, it’s the right file.  If you look at the manual, it clearly says that the same Extensions are used for the Motif XS and Motif Rack XS.  There is also a picture of the Motif Rack XS specific templates.

This is from the Motif XS /Motif rack XS Extensions manual.

MOTIF XS and MOTIF-RACK XS will be installed to Cubase.
Each of these templates includes the appropriate settings for the
Input/Output buses of the VST Connection, meaning that you

Project, without having to set Audio Ports and Buses manually.

The problem that I am still having is that no templates for the Rack-XS show up for me.  I do see:
“Yamaha MOTIF XS6 AD input recording
Yamaha MOTIF XS6 multi channel recording
Yamaha MOTIF XS6 with VST editor”
and then this repeated for XS7 and XS8.  However, I see nothing for Rack-XS.

Is there something I’m doing wrong?

We have verified that there is a problem with the download for the Rack XS extensions 1.5 at Yamahasynth.com
Please download from here at Motifator to get the correct extensions for the Rack which are different from the keyboard.
We will have Japan correct the download at synth.com asap.
