These two doc’s should help.  I THOUGHT I had found them in easy-to-find places, but I can’t seem to put my fingers on WHERE I found them (e.g., Yamaha Support, Motifator, or other reputable sources).

Anyway...they should help you establish the communication correctly.

Hopefully I haven’t steered you wrong.

XF Editor VST Owners Manual:

XF Extension Owners Manual:
http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/synth/motifxf_extension_en_om_a0.pdf

In my opinion, these two manuals as well as anything related to how the XF communicates with Cubase AI should be REAAAAALLY easy to get to.  Unfortunately I must be dense because I can’t seem to find where I originally got these.

Ah...I think I found the more “reputable” sources:

http://www.yamahasynth.com/downloads/drivers_software/synthesizers/motif_xf/all/

http://www.yamahasynth.com/downloads/manuals/synthesizers/motif_xf/english/

and finally:

http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/xf_articles/

You should find enough stuff in those links to get you going.

One more!

I can’t tell if you are Windows or Mac, but here’s both links:

Windows:

Mac:
http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/view/motif_xf_usb_midi_quick_setup_guide_for_macintosh

I’m looking these up for my own well being also...so hang in there!  We’ll get it figured out.
