It seems rather complicated to set the MOXF8, including a Microphone, up with a DAW and make it work (though I found some kind suggestion as to how).

Generally Yamaha writes: “The MOXF features a built-in 4-in 2-out USB audio interface so you can record its internal sounds, and two dedicated audio inputs that can be used to capture guitars and vocals all recorded directly to your computer”.

Could You in a few words paint the picture of how I need to record and in which Order? This might determine my need for the laptop specifications.

As a singer keyboardplayer could you outline your process steps please?

As for now with the DGX 660 I have been limited (without DAW which I don’t know the possibilities of) to one of these two scenarios while recording to a USB or to an onboard midi file.

A) SInging and playing simultaneously. THis is what I always do apart from a few times where I tried to use the MIDI sequenser. Mostly because of the limited ways to tweaking things onboard.

B) Record MIDI, also several tracks onboard, without recording the mic but singing and using a metronome while playing the piano OR if using an inbuilt rhythm not necessary. THen later record the better version of singing while saving the MIDI file as Wave/audio: Have done this a few times. I guess with the MOXF8 the sky is the limit, almost.

I don’t tend to record much live audio, and I have Motifs (XS and XF), so I can’t help with direct MOXF experience.

However, if you haven’t already seen these support articles, they might help:
