There is a new updated Studio Manager editor up on http://www.yamahasynth.com. This fixes an issue that we found when working on the XSpand Your World content.

This Studio Manager version fixes an issue where the editor would lose the relative waveform ID number which enables the Motif XS to load single voices from multiple libraries.

This is NOT the VST editor, but that is very , very close to release and we expect that within 10 days we will have the VST editor available ( as well as the new Motifator site which is looking really nice !).

We wanted to let everyone know as there has been a lot of talk about the VST editor and we didn’t want confusion as this editor 1.1.1 release is for Studio Manager and not the VST version that will come soon.

If you have downloaded the XSpand Your World content or if you have sample RAM, we strongly recommend you download the new editor and use it for editing sounds and mixes

Re: Motif XS Editor 1.1.1

Thank you Athan, just to be sure, does it mean that, when the VST editor will be released, we need to have the two versions installed on our computers.
The 1.1.1 to run in “stand alone” into studio manager and the future VST editor to run directly in cubase as VST ?
Or the future VST XS editor will run for the two using ?

Thanks.

Re: Motif XS Editor 1.1.1

The Studio Manager version of the Motif XS Editor will co-exist on your computer with the Motif XS Editor VST. They have different purposes, to be sure. And are launched differently…
_ The Studio Manager is launched in Cubase under DEVICES > STUDIO MANAGER.
_ The VST version will be launched like a regular VSTi: DEVICES > VST INSTRUMENTS > External > Motif XS VST

Which one you will use will depend on what you are doing within Cubase and what version of Cubase you are running. The VST version will certainly benefit those using and wishing to use the XS’s (and Rack XS’s) multiple audio output capability via firewire (although you can certainly use it via stereo Out with any audio interface).

The Editor VST will allow you to route audio output from the XS through the workings of Cubase… you can then use Cubase Read/Write Automation, you can process XS audio via VST Effects, you can use Cubase features like Audio Mixdown… And in upper versions of Cubase you have the VST INSTRUMENT: FREEZE function.

So one very important difference to understand is that in order to make the most of the Motif XS Editor VST, you need to be in a situation where you are routing AUDIO from the Motif XS to your Cubase.

Those who are connected via USB-MIDI will/can, of course, use the Studio Manager/Motif XS Editor. Now I don’t want it to sound as if you cannot use the new Motif XS Editor VST via USB-MIDI - you most certainly can but at that point you are simply using it as an editor/librarian and not to integrate audio into Cubase.

This will all become much clearer (hopefully) in the next few days.

Dare we actually assume a release “in the next few days” ?

This would be most welcome
