Hello Mo’ Folk!!!

I know I have not posted in a few months or all year. LOL. I’ve been getting immersed into ProTools 8 and particularly the new plug ins (controlled by Yamaha S90). The layout for this track is as follows:

Kick, snare, claps, hi hat: Boom (ProTools plug in)

Drum fills: Yamaha S90

Synth Sounds: Yamaha S90 (performance)

Bass Sound: Yamaha S90 (I created a performance using 3 or 4 different sounds and used that as a bass sound)

I actually may have also included some XPand! and Vacuum sounds in there (2 more ProTools 8 plug ins). I know this is not very detailed as I did not make note of the exact sounds and mixer settings. I hope you enjoy either way!....

Re: Club Clap 3:58

Not bad DF, that second passage of the bassline, reminds me of a track from the early 80;’s I use to hear on the radio.
LOL your track has the “CLAPS” lol I could not resist.
Hey, makes a great ad for STDs,,, slogan,,” Don’t fool around with wild women in the club, you might get burned.”

CONGRADULATIONS on the upgrade to the S90, great sound.

Thanks for sharing your work

Re: Club Clap 3:58

hncheema,

Thanks for the comments. I may find a singer. Although the track is eerily reminiscent of a Diddy track. Especially the chorus. LOL. I wanted to drown the track with clap sounds (hence the title). LOL. I may bring them down a bit as they seem too loud in this mix. Thanks for the comments!…

Re: Club Clap 3:58

mmusic,

Thanks for listening. I think the clap sounds may be a bit too harsh in the mix. But I’m glad you like it. Thanks again!…

Re: Club Clap 3:58

The Funk Master,

If you can remember the track that this reminds me of, I can see if I can throw a sample in here. LOL. My track has the claps. You are funny. LOL. Unfortunately, I don’t own the S90 (and it is not the S90ES), but the functionality is quite similar to the Motif. I’m not sure which came out first or which has more/better sounds, but this works for me here (at work). LOL. Thanks for listening!…

Re: Club Clap 3:58

DF,

I can hear the professional working in the kind of grooves you are making.

Still I have problems to enjoy this kind of music. Maybe I have to listen more often to your tracks to learn to enjoy them. LOL

Re: Club Clap 3:58

Hi DF, I’m glad you posted songs again as well!
Iike the sounds your working with on all 3 songs.
I like the cool backbeats you are using.
Man, now you really got me licking my chops to install PT 8 (LOL).

Nice job and experimentation, you really show off PT 8 well!

Re: Club Clap 3:58

Mustbthemix,

Thanks for listening to all 3 and commenting. Please get into PT8. Especially the Boom and Vacuum plug ins. Xpand! is nice also. I have yet to test out the piano and organ plug in. Plus there are like 30 additional fx in PT8. A lot of experimentation to come. LOL. Thanks again!…

Re: Club Clap 3:58

Hi DF, do you think it is possible to install Mbox 2/PT 8 with my mlan setup, without any conflicts? that’s why I’m a little hesitant at the moment.
I do have a powerful laptop 2.2 ghz duo core/ 4gb ram, 320 gb hd. the only problem is it has windows vista 64 bit installed and Digi does’nt support it.
I’ve tried to install 7.4, but vista did not see the Mbox.

any solutions?

Re: Club Clap 3:58

It might be possible. I’m not too sure of the MLan capabilities with ProTools. I never got into the MLan expansion. I go out of the Motif into my AW mixer. I then burn the individual tracks from the AW16g onto a CD and import that into ProTools.

It seems as though you should upgrade Vista to a Digi supported version. I’m also not too well versed in the ProTools/Windows connectivity world. I’ve used ProTools about 97% of the time on a Mac. LOL. I do know that ProTools 8 is Leopard compatible on Macs. You may have to ask on a ProTools forum about your specific setup!

Sorry!…
