I was curious if it is possible to load samples from the “XSpand Your World” Packs onto the XS Rack.

It is clear that the XS does not have a sampler, but understood that the existing samples on the unit had to get on there somehow.

Is this something that is at all possible to achieve, and would it be done through the Editor?

Thanks =)

Re: importing samples

The samples in the Motif XS Rack are stored in internal Read-Only-Memory (as are the preset samples for the Motif XS workstation). Unlike the Motif XS (which can be expanded with User Sample RAM), the Motif XS Rack can neither record or load user samples.

Re: importing samples

Please excuse my ignorance of the inner workings, but would the 1 available Read-Only-Memory be able to be replaced with User Sample RAM?  Or does the XS Rack require this particular memory to operate?

Re: importing samples

There is no provision in the Motif Rack XS (or any of the other Motif class rack units) to allow for loading or recording samples. Is it technically feasible to redesign the rack units to support this or to hack, sure… but that’s not how these units were designed.
