Does anyone know an easy way to control the Motif XS basic sequencer functions (Start, Stop and Song Select) with a footswitch?

Re: Sequencer Foot Control

Plug an FC4 or FC5 (standard momentary) pedal into the Foot Switch jack

Call up the SONG you want to program the Foot Switch for…
Press [MIXING]
Press [EDIT]
Press [COMMON EDIT]
Press [F3] CTRL ASGN
Set the FOOT SWITCH CONTROL NO. = the function you want to control

cc097 = Play/Stop
cc098 = Program Change Increment (Song Select will advance)
cc099 = Program Change Decrement (Song Select will retreat)

Press [STORE] to update your SONG settings.
Rinse and repeat for each SONG/MIXING program.

From a partical standpoint, you cannot have a Foot Switch doing Stop/Start and Increment through Songs… so you may find the Motif XS SONG CHAIN function more useful.

The SONG CHAIN (from SONG mode press [F4] CHAIN
Here you can program a set list. There are 100 steps… each step can contain a command:
Select a SONG by number/name
SKIP - useful when you do not want to play a particular selection
STOP - the sequencer will pause - useful when you are going to make an announcement between numbers.
END - the end of the set.

Say you do 8 Songs per set, you might use the single digits for Set 1, the teens for Set 2, the twenties for Set 3 and so on… So you can configure different play orders as necessary.
