I have been using the storage space on my mp3 player to store songs I wrote on a MO8 keyboard. So I bought a 2gig flash drive for to replace the mp3 player. Unfortunately when I go to format the flash drive on the keyboard, it:

a. doesn’t recognize the amount of space on the drive saying there are ‘0.0’ bytes left.
And

b. When I try to format there is a message that says, “usb drive not ready.”

Anyone know what the problem is? Is the drive simply not compatible with the keyboard? Is there something special I need to do?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Re: USB Flash drive trouble shooting

Why did you format the USB drive?
All USB sticks come FAT formatted already.
Is it functioning on your PC? Is it FAT? then leave it alone.

Re: USB Flash drive trouble shooting

Here’s what I did. When I bought the Flash drive I used my computer to copy the files from my mp3 to the drive. I plugged it into the keyboard and the keyboard said, “USB device connecting” But when I went to ‘FILE’ the keyboard said there were “0.0” bytes left on the drive, which is obviously wrong. So, per the manual’s directions I attempted to format the drive, but the keyboard said, “USB device not ready.” So using my computer I tried a few different formats, none of which worked, I then formatted back to FAT and the keyboard still does the same thing.

I get the feeling that this flash drive(which works fine on my PC) is somehow not compatible with the MO8. Am I right?

Re: USB Flash drive trouble shooting

Every 2Gb stick comes FAT16 formatted and should work instantly.
I can only conclude that you bought crap.

All of my +- 20 sticks work as a charm.
