I have 2 assignable outs connected to my digi 002 rack inputs.  When I try to monitor the signal, its very low. When I switch the 002 rack from +4 to -10, I get a better signal. So I guess my question is is it ok to record the motif sounds with a -10 dbv instead of +4

Sure!

The +4 just adds attenuation.  (If you look closely, the +4 is probably dBv, and the -10 is dBu.  Different units.  The difference between the two is actually 12dB, not 14dB.  Not that it matters… as long as it works, and you’re not saturating the input.
