Hey there,

first of all thanks to all those that post and answer here. This is an awesome forum.

I have a few songs that I forgot to put a drumstick 4 count to start the song and as a result, the song just starts when I hit play. Playing out live it makes a challenge to start the song.

Is there any way to go back and add a 4 count drumstick to the beginning of the song?

Re: How to add start count to Song

You can add 4 empty measures at 000 and then play anything in there.

Re: How to add start count to Song

It sounds like you want to add 1 count-in measure to your song (not 4 /forums/images/icons/grin.gif alt=). As suggested by Joop, one easy way to do this would be to add a measure to your song (using the [SONG]-->[JOB]-->[F4] MEASURE-->01: Create Measure job - see page 231 of the Motif ES Owner’s Manual ) and then recording the 4 beat drum stick lead-in to a track in that measure.

Re: How to add start count to Song

Typically, the count-in is two measures… just FYI…

Usually the first measure is counted half time and the second is at tempo. Although you usually speak “1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4” the actually timing data is 1-3-1234
