Brand new to all this so be gentle.
I have 4 keyboards I use to play live. I want to use the ES to set all the other boards voices, but I don’t want the ES to play them when I’m playing the ES. Is this possible?
Thanks

Re: Controlling External Midi boards

Master mode on the Motif ES was developed for this very purpose. Check out the Understanding Motif ES Master Mode article from the Motif ES Behind the Manual page.

Re: Controlling External Midi boards

Thanks Brad!
I was looking for the “Behind the manual” for the ES but all I could find was the one for the XS. I told you I was new to all this.
Thanks again!
Mike

Re: Controlling External Midi boards

The article was great. I got the ES to send set up changes to my other boards, but I can’t get it to stop sending keyboard notes to the other boards. I’m in preformance master mode. What I’m I forgetting to set?

Re: Controlling External Midi boards

If you only want to send setup data, but you do not want to trigger the sound of the your external modules, all you need to do is set the NOTE LIMIT range for the ZONE so that it does not send notes to that device.

From MASTER mode
Press [EDIT]
Press Track Select [1]-[4] to see Zones 1-4
Press [F2] NOTE
Set the NOTE LIMIT H = G8
Set the NOTE LIMIT L = G8

Make sense?
Hope that helps.
