Here’s a track that has been haunting me for the past 15 years…

Airwolf 2nd/3rd season closing theme (excerpt)

It’s been produced almost entirely on the Motif XS, with the exception of two parts (the sweeps and secondary lead*) which are done on the AN1x. Mastered in Sonar 7 PE.

*) the slow one that plays a-c’-d’-e’-d’-c’-b-a-g-e-b-a

For those not familiar - this is the main theme for the 80s action show Airwolf , originally composed by Sylvester Levay. An official soundtrack has never been released and that’s why I’m producing those replica (ie. as close to original as possible) covers of the main theme (there were several versions) which will be released sometime in 2009. My participation in this project allowed me to purchase the XS.

Since this is the final mastered version, I’d love some feedback on mastering etc - it’s my first serious music project.

This is a very good arrangement of this theme!! However: Too short. Is there a longer version?

Nevertheless: Great work!

Brother Jote, I think this is the first time you have graced us with your music, on this forum, and what a wonderful work it is.
The overall sound quality here is outstanding, I’ve just turned it on and no EQ needed.
Everything is clear and precise.

Thanks for sharing your work.

I like this intro. Is there more? You can get some pretty decent mastering tools from some basic software (i.e. ProTools, maybe even Garageband). Or hardware (i.e. AW16G). I have not dived into the field of mastering too much, but I would try my hand at this piece if you want. Just PM me. Thanks for sharing....

Not true - I posted my “Smooth Jazz” doodle here:

Smooth Jazz (sorf of) - sadly I lost that song somehow. I’ll need to re-record it one day…

and there was this old thread

Re: Airwolf 2nd/3rd season closing theme

I forgot to address the “is there more"/"why so short” questions.

Yes, there is more and the full version duration is exactly 6 minutes (the original was 3:26).

I am not, however, allowed to upload it. Airwolf Themes is a commercial project (if it wasn’t for Airwolf Themes I never would have gotten the XS!) and I’m under a contract with a “real” label.

Here’s another snippet of a different version of the main theme (the album will have a dozen (literally) different versions of the main theme!)

Airwolf 2nd season extended minimalist theme (excerpt)

I’m really sorry I can’t post full versions, I will however continue to publish my other works in their entire glory. Thanks for understanding.

Enjoy.
