I am trying to export an audio track as a wave file.  I go to export and verify that the file type is a Wave file.

Then I click the export button and go to the file in Windows explore and check its properties to verify that it a wave file.

The problem is, I am trying to convert this file to an MP3 using an encoder I have downloaded online.

Ive tried two differnet ones and both of them say the file is not a valid wave file.

Any suggestions?

Re: .wav file question

Usual questions: version of Cubase (?), Export settings (?), dithering used(?), bit rate and sample rate of file you are trying to export (?), and the same info for the file you have exported etc.
Cubase can export as .mp3 unless you are using one of the lighter versions (for which you may need to use a converter). As I mentioned to you in a previous post: “You can’t export mp3 from Cubase Studio. Take a look at this article:
http://knowledgebase.steinberg.net/113_1.html
and you will see that you will need to purchase the mp3 encoder update for mixing down as mp3.”...............frank

Re: .wav file question

Frank is right - we will need more info to lead you properly.

That said, most likely issue will be that despite exporting as a WAV you need also to make sure it is set to 16 bit rather than 24 or 32 bit both of which woudl produce a file which your mp3 encoder woudl likely struggle with. So maybe try there first.

Cheers

Re: .wav file question

All good, the bit rate was too high.

Thanks a lot. One more question bout sampling I posted maybe you fellas could lend a hand with.

Thanks!!
