Here is the dilemma. I scanned the topic, found a concise set of directions by you on page 43 where the topic is how to record a voice wave on the Classic. I have not delved in the manual fully because I am grading right now, nevertheless, here is my question if I may.

Re: Why the periferrals?
Here’s some answers to your questions:
The Motif classic ships with 4MB of sample memory which is only enough to record about 4 minutes of samples. If you wish to record any songs or patterns with samples (i.e. recording using the AD input on the back of the instrument). If you are simply recording using voices internal to the Motif, there is no need to install sample memory.
While it may be possible to purchase this memory at a electronic Super Store, the fact that this is an older technology (newer computers use “DIMM” module, not SIMM module) and the fact that the Motif classic can be sensitive to getting memory with the correct specifications, I would recommend you purchase it from a vendor that guarantees that it will work with the Motif. One such vendor is the MotifMart - the online store hosted by Keyfax - the hosts of this site.
The cable shown there ships with the AIEB2 interface board. It is not necessary for any other purpose. (By the way, the mLAN8e board shown on that page is obsolete and no longer supported.) The AIEB2 provides your Motif Classic an additional assignable outputs as well as digital inputs and outputs. This board can be used in sophisticated configurations where you want to record multiple voices on independent tracks or apply external effect to these voices.
The Motif classic supports SCSI (Small Computer Storage Interface) devices for offline storage. Adding a SCSI device does not expand the amount of samples that you can have available for the Motif to play. You must first load any samples on an attached device into the Motif’s sample memory.

I can understand you examining another option for the purchase. However there “could” be a problem with the SIMMs chips from that alternative. I had a problem with the chips I inititially purchased. They just didn’t work...for whatever reason. I ended up getting my chips from the MotifMart.
