Say I’m playing in master mode. The current master references a song or pattern. In mixing mode for that song or pattern, I have two sets of parts: one set makes a layered lead sound and all parts are on MIDI channel 1, and the other set is a layered pad with all parts on MIDI channel 2. I have at least 3 zones: one for the lead, one for the pad, and one to send a program change to an external MIDI device.
What happens with the volume sliders in this case? Pg. 217 of the manual says that if the Knob/Slider parameter for the master is set to Zone, I can send a control change between 1 and 95 with each slider. (If it wasn’t set, the sliders would control volume for parts 1-4, 5-8, etc, depending on which group of tracks was selected).
I’m guessing that whatever MIDI CC was sent with the sliders would be sent to all parts using that MIDI channel? Does this mean that I could adjust the relative balance between layers for my lead sound and then use a single slider to adjust all of them at once? If so, is this adjustment relative or specific? In other words, say my lead is made up of a synth lead at volume 127 and a brass sound at volume 64. If the slider is all the way down, effectively muting the lead, and I move it all the way up, will both sounds end up at volume 127 or will the brass end up at volume 64?
On a related note, is there only one Knob/Slider setting on [F2] of master edit mode, or are there two separate ones for knobs and for sliders (i.e. could I set sliders to use the functions set for each zone, but have knobs control panning?)
