When I record a performance using the vocoder with my mic I hear the vocoder working while I am recording.  When I play back what I recorded in pattern mode all the track play back except what was recorded on the vocoder track.  What am I missing here?

Since you are talking about a Vocoder we will assume you have a Motif XS. The Vocoder can be recorded to the XS only if you have expanded your Motif XS with DIMMs (Sample RAM).
