How can I keep from having to reload the samples everytime I want to use the KSounds on my Motif XS8.  Also, I purchased the Vintage Keys and when I load the KSounds, it takes the Vintage keys out of user bank 3.  How can I have them on there all at the same time???  Please help

Re: K Sounds Piano 1 for Motif XS

First, load the K-sounds Piano you want to load. Then load the samples.
Then SAVE it back to USB stick as an “All” type file with a new
name. You may have to first remove the K-sounds files from the
USB stick (don’t turn off your XS), then do the save. In the future,
this newly saved file will be the one you load.

Once you have done the new save, you can place Vintage Keys XS onto the same USB stick and you can then load it to a different
user bank. You do this by going to “load” and specifying the type
as “Voice”. You’ll see that you have a choice of voice locations -
User Bank 1, 2, or 3, followed by a voice number. If you scroll all
the way past the number “128”, you’ll come to “all”. Then you
can make sure which Bank you want to load Vintage Keys to, for
example if you want it back in User 3, your target fields should
read “User 3” and “all”.

Proceed with the loading of Vintage Keys. When done, re-SAVE
the entire thing as yet another ALL file, call it something like
“K-Sounds+Vintage”. If your USB stick is smaller than 512MB you
will have to remove the new K-sounds piano ALL file you saved, placing it on your computer, to clear out room for this latest ALL file.

Re: K Sounds Piano 1 for Motif XS

Thanks for your reply, Dave! And thanks, jsmith23, for purchasing a K-Sounds piano product!

Adding to what Dave wrote, you will always have to reload the samples (Yamaha calls them “waveforms") each time you turn the Motif on and want to use Piano 1. The voices will be kept when the keyboard is off, but the samples will not. The “K-Sounds+Vintage” ALL file will contain the samples (provided the samples are loaded when you save that file), so reloading it will do the job.

Saving and reloading an ALL file ensures that the voices will always find the samples they need. Just be aware that loading an ALL file will overwrite any voice, performance, or song edits you make after creating that file. If you find this causing problems, you can save and reload just the samples using an ALL WAVEFORM type file, leaving your voices and performances unchanged. Whether you use All files or All Waveform files, both approaches are valid, just different ways of working.
