I loaded cubase v 4.01 that came with my XS7 onto my laptop PC running Vista then used the cumbersome syncrosoft licensing process to register and activate but when I downloaded the upgrade to v 4.52 it won’t let me back on the programme and says I need to run syncrosoft license control centre to fix the problem but following the instructions there to run as administrator on right click doesn’t solve the problem.  Frustrating! Please help.

Re: Problem upgrading cubase

Sorry, but how did you get Cubase 4.01 with your XS? A copy of “Cubase AI” is bundled with the Motif XS. Please clarify the version of Cubase you actually have. Registration procedures etc. are different, depending on the version, and you are using Vista...........frank

Re: Problem upgrading cubase

I’m with Frank on this one. More detail please.

However, take note that the syncrosoft LCC (License control Centre) program may itself need updating - often in these cases that is the actual cause of the problem, so check that that part of your setup is as up to date as possible.

Cheers

Re: Problem upgrading cubase

I got Cubase AI4 with the XS7. I can’t tell you the version because I registered and activated and it was working but I then loaded the upgrade to v4.5.2 and now I can’t open it at all.  I get a message saying

“Soft-eLicenser doesn’t have enough permissions to run properly. Please run LCC to fix this problem._”

If I do run LCC I get another message saying

“It is not possible to fix the file permissions.
Please try starting the License Control Center by right click on the file and select “Run as...” from the context menu of the file.
Choose a user having administrative rights, click ok and restart the License Control Center.”
I am in Australia and we don’t seem to enjoy the same technical support as USA and other countries re Cubase.

Re: Problem upgrading cubase

Hi,
You mention “upgrading” “AI” to version 4.5.2. Did you mean that you updated? Where did you get the ‘update’ that you used and did you apply the correct file (available here )? Who did you contact to register Cubase? Please note that you can also contact Yamaha as well as Steinberg for support of AI. Yamaha support in Australia can be reached via here . In any case, if you could please tell us which update you applied perhaps we can provide additional help............frank

Re: Problem upgrading cubase

Occmed,

I suspect you try to update Cubase AI illegally to a Cubase 4.5.2, because its not possible to upgrade freely from Cubase AI to Cubase 4.5.2.

You need at least an official Cubase 4.01 version and Disc to update cq upgrade to Cubase 4.5.2. and you need the dongle as well.

I think you have first to buy Cubase 4, before you can upgrade to 4.5.2.

Re: Problem upgrading cubase

Jan,

there is an AI 4.5.2 update available which is why Frank asked whether Occmed had downloaded and applied the right one. But you are right - it is not possible to apply a full Cubase update to AI. You have to start from C4 /forums/images/icons/smile.gif alt=

Re: Problem upgrading cubase

Darn right it gets confusing sometimes....as Wellie and I have also discovered from time to time! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif alt= /forums/images/icons/smile.gif alt= In any case, Jan, in my post above I provided a link to the correct update page for AI, so if it interests you at all just click on the link and you will see the page to which I was referring. Re: Problem upgrading cubase

I have solved the problem thank you by using the syncrosoft LCC.  I only downloaded what was available as an update for Cubase AI4 that came with my XS7 and the update patch seem to stop me opening the programme due a problem with LCC. Thanks for your input.
