Re: motif classic question
A Performance, by definitions, is simply up to four Voices combined together for simultaneous play from the keyboard. Therefore to understand what is going on you must be clear on this. Each VOICE is placed in a PART - so it is said that a PERFORMANCE has 4 PARTS.
Say you place the Power Grand in PART 1 and you place the Background Strings in PART 2 and then you place an Acoustic Bass in PART 3 - as your Performance Voices.
You could then set NOTE LIMITS so that the Piano and Strings were layered on the right side and the Bass was Note Limited to the left.
when you go to the Sequencer (SONG or PATTERN mode) you have 16 PARTS available. So in order to recreate the example PERFORMANCE in a PATTERN MIXING setup you would need to use 3 PARTS… make sense?
PART 1 = Piano
PART 2 = Strings
PART 3 = Bass
you would set them all to receive information from Track 1… and you would set all of them to receive on MIDI channel 1… that way YOU and/or the Sequencer could play them all simultaneously. Make sense?
Go to PATTERN mode
Press [MIXING]
Press [JOB]
Press [F5] PF COPY (Performance Copy)
Here you can select the attributes you want to copy from any PERFORMANCE into the current MIXING setup. Make your selections and Press [ENTER] to execute.
This will copy the PARTS of the selected PERFORMANCE to your current MIXING setup and it will assign them to the Basic Receive Channel (1)… this way when you select TRACK SELECT [1] you will be able to play the sounds exactly the same way you did when they were in PERFORMANCE mode. You will also notice that tracks 2 and 3 now do not transmit to any PARTS because the PARTS that defaulted to MIDI channel 2 and 3 are not assigned to MIDI channel 1. This is normal.
This is covered in the Owner’s Manual on page 213
Hope that helps.
