Hi,

I’m using my S90 to control my Nord Stage sounds via MIDI (OUT-->IN). The problem I’m encountering is that the control pedal I have plugged into the S90’s Foot Controller 1 jack, which controls the volume of all my S90 sounds, is also transmitting to the Nord. I already have another control pedal plugged into the Nord, so I really need my S90’s foot controller to be set to affect ONLY the S90.

How can I do this?

Thank you!

Arden

Re: disabling MIDI tx of Foot Controller

WOW!! I got it!!

In utility > voice > ctl asn, switched FC1 to 07MainVol, rather than 11Express, which is what it was on before. In case anyone wonders..

Re: disabling MIDI tx of Foot Controller

Argh .. I have the very same problem .. have an S-90 controlling an XS rack and want to control the volumes separately. I have a MIDI Solutions Foot Controller that inserts volume data into the MIDI stream for the rack. But I can’t shut off the MIDI data from the control pedal on the S-90 EVEN when I set it to Main Vol rather than Expression as you described. On my setup, the rack STILL responds to the pedal on the keyboard (AS WELL as to the one from the Foot Controller)

Does ANYONE have an idea/solution for this?

I know I can spend another $150 for an “Event Processor” from MIDI solutions to filter OUT the volume data from the kbd, but surely there must be a way to turn it off at the source?

Sorry, I don’t understand what it is you want to accomplish. It cannot be the same problem (as you state) or the solution would work for you too. Please explain what it is you are doing and what is you actually want to do.

Re: disabling MIDI tx of Foot Controller

Well it seems to me it is the same thing and I don’t actually understand why it did work above. Here’s a note about the setup that seems to say the Foot Controller will always apply to the connected MIDI devices if it is set for overall volume:

FOOT PEDALS
The same scenario holds true for controlling
volume with an optional Yamaha FC7 (sweep
control pedal) plugged into the Foot Control
jack (FC2). Foot Control (cc #004) can be
assigned to control many different parameters
within a synth voice. (Not to be confused with
Foot Volume (cc #007) which always controls
MIDI Channel Volume). There is always some
confusion here because they both use the
same FC7 pedal – however, the function can
be quite different. One key difference is that if
you use cc007 every thing connected to that
MIDI channel will be controlled the same. If
you use the assignable Foot Control cc004 you
can choose the destination parameter for the
foot pedal and it will only effect the S90 and
only the Elements of the S90 sound that you
designate.
Foot Control (cc004) can be assigned to control
the internal volume of the S90 in a similar
fashion to how we did the MW experiment.
Simply follow the same steps we did with the
MW, above, to assign the Foot Controller
(FC04) to be the Source and set volume as the
(DEST) destination. When you set the Volume
to 0 you will have biased total volume to the
Foot Controller.

I’ve followed these directions and it does work for individual voices, but I want to set it up for the whole keyboard and still can’t see how to do that. I can’t see a place to set the source and destination as described, except when you edit an individual voice.

I don’t understand either… but you both say you have the same problem… I’m just trying to understand what that is…

A little help for a little help… what exactly do you want to accomplish?
