I’m currently in the market for PC-based music production software to use with my MO8. I’ve been researching all the top names for a couple of years now, and I still can’t quite find a definitive review, article, white paper, etc. that can help me make the right choice.

Pro Tools is the industry standard. But not necessarily the LE versions.

Thanks for your reply, Keith. You mentioned that you’re using Cubase 4. There are about 4 versions of Cubase.

But I guess you will be doing mostly MIDI and less Audio. In that case Cubase Essential is a good choice. It also depends on your budget.

Another potentially important thing is that Yamaha own Steinberg, the creators of Cubase. This should mean better integration between Yamaha and Steinberg stuff. Indeed the Motif XS and Cubase4 really have benefitted from this connection.

Re: Music Production Software and the MO8
if you want tight connection with your MO8 and DAW i reccomend Cubase. i use Cubase as well, the reason i might use my protools in a project is if i want to start at home and finish my tracks on big studio which has pro tools as well....
