Hi. I have bought new yamaha MM8 but i am really upset about the piano sound. Such a new machine and still can not compare to old yamaha P80. now i am trying to sell it and buy MO8, but it is not that easy. it could be better if there would be possibility to put somehow a new sound into MM8 (especially some nice grand piano) for example via usb. thanks for reply.

Re: MM8 piano sounds

Ozon, unfortunately there is no way to add new piano voices to mm8.
I hate the stock pianos in my motif es, but thanks to the sampling capability, the s700 piano samples now rock my world!

Re: MM8 piano sounds

Ozon,

That’s what happens when you buy technology from 2001 stuffed into a body from 2008. Yamaha is duping alot of people with the MM6/8 series, and forcing their hands into purchasing a MO6/8 just like you are doing.

Well, the thing is called “segmentation” in marketing terminology…

No...it’s called “profit margin”.

Re: MM8 piano sounds

Well, either way, the term translates to this: “ You get what you pay for “
I don’t want to start a debate here, since the marketing guys at Yamaha had already worked on this.
My suggestion is to think what you instrument can do, and how to enhance it.
I have been a motif es owner for 2 years, and believe me, I hate the crappy screen, lifeless pianos and the lack of internal memory, etc. The things started to get better once I realized that I should stop bitching on the internet and start investing my time on improving the workflow. Now I am much more happier
