I own an XS6 which i think is absolutely awsome, however i am looking at purchasing an XS Rack to use as a back up for live purposes.

My question is: Is it possible to load an ‘all’ file from my XS6 onto the XS Rack?

I’m not too clued up with computer software editors, and i don’t have any samples to transfer as i know the rack doesn’t have the sample function (???).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In addition to not having any sample RAM, the Rack XS does not have a Sequencer, nor does it have a USB To Device port ... so ALL data files (.X0A) are not applicable and the Rack XS does not load via a USB drive.

But the Motif-Rack XS Editor can IMPORT Voice data from a Motif XS ALL data file.

Open the Motif Rack XS Editor
Go to FILE on the menu bar of the Editor
Select “IMPORT”
Set the File type = “Motif XS ALL (*.x0a)”
This will allow you to drag and drop Voices or load an entire bank of sounds to the Motif-Rack XS, as you require.

Below I’m ready to import the VintageKeysXS.X0A Voice data (found in Normal User 3 of the file) to the Motif Rack XS’s current Normal User 1 bank.

One more question: Can the User Performances in the XS7 be converted into a Multi on the Rack XS?

I’m thinking of adding the rack XS in a similar situation,but was curious if my performance files from the XS7 can be also used in the rack as Multi’s ...

Different architecture in this area. You could recreate using the same voices and settings, but you could not ‘load’ a performance from the keyboard into the Rack XS.

Is there any dedicated tool that can do the transfer of XS7 performances into XS RACK multi’s? I have created many on the keyboard,and I’d want a smooth transition vs. a cluster.
Setting these Performances up manually would take a good bit of time,wonder if John Melas has a tool? Thanks

I’m glad to confirm that convertion between Motif XS
Performances and Motif Rack XS Multis will be supported in
the next version of my XS Librarians!

The upgrade will be available in a week and it will
contain many new features especially for the Rack XS
Tools!

Hi, I need to import in my XS Rack performances and voices from a XS6 of a friend of mine.

Is it possible to import in the tools software a file sent me by e-mail and convert it in order to load data on my XS rack connected to my PC ?

I just sent a mail to John, I’ll let you know what he says.. I would imagine the editor would be needed though as it needs to be converted from Performance file into Multi…

Does the XS save a file tha I could read directly in my XS RACK total librarian to convert performances to multis?

You do need Total Librarian for XS rack.  The XS rack will not by itself read the performances from an XS keyboard.  The Total Librarian will take an all file XOA from the XS keyboard and load the performances with the voices it needs to an XS rack multi and transfer that to your rack.
