Wondering if we have any folks out there using the new Yamaha N8 and/or N12 Digital Firewire mixers, and if so, how are they working out for you?

Thanks!

Bob

I use n12. Its great ! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif alt=
I havent regretted buying it. But motorized faders would have been even cooler !

Yes, I have changed my 01X for a N12 mixer and I must admit interface this N12 and working with it is a lot easier than with the 01X.

Yes, I miss the motorized faders also. It would be nice when they move when you move the faders on the MOTIFXS Editor.

No idea why Yamaha skipped that feature. Cutting down costs, maybe.

Re: Yamaha N8 or N12 Mixer users...

I myself picked up the N8 but kept the 01X.  Both are integrated into my MLAN network.  The N-series sounds fabulous (mic pres, eq and compression).  The 01X remote control features are second to none.  With my current setup, I get the best of both worlds.

n12 should have had some function at least to record automation.

I use my Motif XS faders, to RECORD automation in Cubase.
Works fine. But I like to watch faders flying around. LOL

Re: Yamaha N8 or N12 Mixer users...

Bob,
There’s an exceedingly long post regarding the N8/N12 at gearslutz.com.  The Yamaha rep has hung with this thread for a LONGGGGGGG time.  Here’s the link.  http://www.gearslutz.com/board/so-much-gear-so-little-time/133358-yamaha-n-series.html.

I’m tempted by the MR816CSX, but am still debating.  My Firepod’s day is coming!

Re: Yamaha N8 or N12 Mixer users...

Sorry, Jan.  Thanks Keith.  I am more and more impressed with Yamaha support.  The sales rep has stuck with that thread for an unbelievable amount of time and I’m confident he’s sold many units because of his persistence....

Even I had issues at the beginning. I posted it there. He solved mine too.
He even added me in MSN so that if I may contact him if at all I find anything wrong with the n12.

Re: Yamaha N8 or N12 Mixer users...

Thanks for all the input everyone. Looks like the N series is a good solution.

Isn’t the MR816CSX basically the same thing, just configured differently?

Re: Yamaha N8 or N12 Mixer users...

Bob,
My understanding is that the pres, converters, DSP channel strip and RevX reverb are the same.  It appears that the N12 is to the MR16CSX as the Digi003 is to the Digi003R if that makes sense??

Thanks Mike, but this end of the business makes only a little sense to me.

Thanks,

Bob
