I have some problems with my new plg150an and plg150dr boards.
the boards are installed on slot 1 + 2. so far, so good…

but always when i go into the mixermode i hear the sounds from the 150an board on track 1, and also the internal sounds from the motif at the same time on the same track. (f.e. grandpiano voice + synthvoice).
same problem is on track 2: internal voice + drumboard voice at the same time.

i always have to delete the board voices in the voice settings in the mixermode when i want to hear only the internal sounds....

what i am doing wrong?

next problem is when i start the sequencer the “deleted” sounds from the boards are here again. must be a program change message somewhere, but i cant find it to disable.

next question:
how can i tweak the an150 sounds from the motif6?
i only found the “native” page for changing parameters, but how can i tweak the settings like osc, filter, vca etc.... with the sliders from the motif in realtime?

thanks for your help!!!

Re: Motif questions...

Nothing wrong, those are just on the same MIDI channel (1&2).
There are several solutions.
My solution is a private one: I made a blank mix to start from
with channels 14, 15 & 16 silenced and assigned PLG-1, PLG-2 & PLG-3 resp.

As I never use more than 10 tracks it works for me.
You might scan in the ES forum for the advices BM once gave.

Re: Motif questions...

Which OS do you have?

Joop has pointed you in the right direction. You are getting the two sounds from the host and the PLG layered.
You can edit this behaviour in a song mix by using the edit button and then either turning off the sounds in the host, or turning off the sounds in the PLG.

I have a feeling this behaviour you’re describing was changed in one of the OS updates. I am running OS1.9 and do not have this happening when I switch my board on.

Cheers

Re: Motif questions...

Interesting, I run 1.08 (latest) in my ES and 1.04 (latest) in our S90
and we are having the same problem.
Was it cured in a Classic????

Re: Motif questions...

The Motif is 16 PARTS multi-timbral. So when you add two PLG150 boards they will either have to share or replace one of the internal PARTS.

When you insert the boards the PLG1 slot will default to MIDI channel 1, and the PLG2 slot will default to MIDI channel 2

What you can do is turn OFF the internal PART 1 and PART 2 so that the PLG PART 1 and PLG PART 2 will sound. (that is if you want to use the AN and DR board on a particular SONG or PATTERN.

Press [MIXING]
Press [EDIT]
Press Track Select [1] to view PART parameters
Press [F1] VOICE
Press [SF2] MODE
Here you can see the MIDI channel assignment for each PART.

The [F6] PLG1-3 button will toggle you to view the three possible PLG slots. When you toggle to view PLG1-3 the button will switch to being labeled “1-16” meaning pressing it again will toggle you back to the internal Parts view.

You can turn PARTS OFF by setting the MIDI Receive Channel = OFF.

If you are using the internal 16 Track Sequencer you can only have 16 simultaneous PARTS active anyway.

If you are using an external sequencer you can place the PLG150 boards on PORT 2 and address the 16 internal PARTS as PORT1, and your 3 potential PLG slots as MIDI channels 1, 2 and 3 of PORT 2.

For more information on each of your PLG150 boards and how they works please visit the Motif Classic HOME PAGE > Behind the Manual for the following 3 articles:

You will also find tutorials and free sound files there as well. If you get stuck post back here.

Re: Motif questions...

But you could start with some free voices from the indicated source
and finally MotifMart sells some PLG kits.

Re: Motif questions...

Preset sounds are what sells 99.9% of the products… so saying you hate them is just well perhaps an exaggeration, no?

Re: Motif questions...

the motif is my 1st “rompler”, i have a lot of samplers (mpc, sp1200, akai etc...) and a few analog synths and other “non midi” stuff....

dont understand me wrong, i love (most of) the preset sounds from the motif (esp. the pianos + organs), but synthsounds i create allways from scratch....

i had the an1x and sold it for the an150 board…

i will give the syntheditor a try, we will see....
until now i also never touched the motif editor…

Re: Motif questions...

The AN1X was the from scratch version of the technology in the PLG150-AN board. If you are a “from scratch” type person you should get that back!
