i thought this would be a good place for everyone to ask any questions about the “new” motif.

so here’s mine

1) since the ES supports Digital Performer will it possible to use the “classic” MOTIF as a remote? is this a possiblity as an OS upgrade or is this something that can only be done with the new architecture?

2) which version of Digital Performer will the ES support? will it be a DP 4 only remote or will it work with 3.1.1?


Im really happy that you have created the most bad assed workstation ever...but im sad i dont own it. im going to have to find some stuff to sell. my clavinet has been collecting dust but i dont think i can part with it . one of my rhodes might have to go though...lol

It won’t be possible for the original Motif to support Digital Performer.

The Motif Es supports the both Mackie and Logic control protocols. So any version of DP that supports the Mackie Controller will work with the ES.

Sorry , but it’s late at night here in Japan ( 1:35 am) after the Motif ES release party and we don’t have all the DP versions available. Anyway, check the manual of your version of DP.  If it says it supports the Mackie Controller it will work with the Motif ES.

Hello Mr yamaha and those in the higher archy.Iam very
excited about the ES and i had a few question about the
USB. will it handel audio and midi at the same time?
or is it just midi and what about sounds, the one’s iam
intrested in are those old string machine sounds, like
on George Benson, Broadway” song and those moog leads
and basses like on the Virus and pads. Iam a fusion guy
and would love those sounds, especially the mini moog
slide that Jimmy Jam does on his recording, i think the
triton doesa good job at that kind of thing, any way
thats it!
