Hello,
I just picked up a Motif XS-R, and I’m having trouble trying to figure out how
to split the keyboard.  How do I set the range in which a sound plays (ie. only use C1 thru C3)?  I want to do this in the Voice mode.

Also, how can I tell what OS version this unit has?

Note Limit settings in Voice mode must be made at the element (1 - 8) level, whereas in multi mode this can be controlled on a per voice basis. Below is a screen shot of the element level edit screen. Keep in mind that you’ll need to move the desired voices to one of the User banks before you can store any of these edits for later use.

As an idea, you may be able to more simply control these note limit settings (while in the Rack XS voice mode) from your controller keyboard.

Regarding the firmware version, I believe it is a part of the start up screen messages?

Thanks Bob!

The version number does not show up on the start up screen though.
I am sure it is some combination of buttons that must be pushed, but I have not been able to figure it out yet.

In order to see what version Motif-Rack XS you have do the following:

Press [UTILITY] + [EDIT] simultaneously to enter the DEMO mode.
Now that you are in the DEMO mode hold down the AUDITION button for three seconds… the Firmware version will be shown.

I have not heard exactly when but the update is due soon. 1.02.1
