I’ve tried numerous times to no avail to do this properly.  In pattern mode I simply want to copy a synth track to the next yet have a different instrument play the same phrase (i.e. a brass patch.) Every time I do this it copies the synth patch as well.  I’ve tried different combinations of unchecking the seq event, grid groove, mix part param, sample info (some of these shouldn’t matter in my opinion), but I get the same result.
I can play the same pattern over with the different instrument, but it’s a little intensive when i’m trying to work quickly.  If anyone could give me advice I’d appreciate it.  Thanks!

Re: copy track for layering instruments?

Unfortunately i don’t see this command.  Sorry can you walk me through this a little more?  After pressing edit I see commands of change, view flt, insert, delete.  I see where you can change notes etc. but not voices.  Much appreciated.  This would make life so much easier!

Re: copy track for layering instruments?

If you want to change the voice of already recorded phrase, you need to make the change in phrase header. If you change the voice in mixing edit mode it won’t stick.

First choose the PART number you have the phrase you want to work with. Then press RECORD. Press F2 for selecting VOICE. Change the voice and bank number as you wish and press STOP. You’re done.

Another way of doing this is to put the track voice off. When in pattern mode, press F3 for TRACK, press SF3 for TR VCE. Choose the PART number you’re working on and change the phrase voice to OFF. Now you can change the voice in mixing edit mode and it will stick.

Hope that helps.
