I’m using SONAR 7 to record my Motif ES. How do I apply the MOTIF’s effects to my AUDIO recording of my MIDI tracks, rather than just using the Cakewalk ones? I bought Keyfax’s excellent DVD (Sound Advice) by Mark Polich teaching me how to apply all of MOTIF’s individual effects to internal MOTIF sequences, but no mention was made of how to apply the MOTIF effects to external sequencers, or if indeed it’s possible at all. I like Motif’s effects better than Sonar’s, so I want to record the effects from Motif. Can you tell me what’s what? |

As far as I am aware, you can’t route Audio output of Sonar through the ES and use it as an external effects unit.

I once used the Effects of the XS in a live situation in my house.

But in general, you cannot use your Motif as an external Effects Generator.

“2 Record the ES audio outs DRY - ie no effects. Then record just the effects onto a separate stereo channel. This way, you can alter the amount at a leter point in the mix. This is useful for things like reverbs.”
