My Setup : ES6,Mlan 16e,PC with XP,DAW- Nuendo

Hi,
Please tell me how to set up the ES / Mlan to be able to sequence midi notes directly onto my recording software as opposed to using the ES sequencer. So far I’ve been sequencing on the ES sequencer & I send the audio through Mlan to my recording software..I don’t even use the MLan virtual mixer & stuff like that as I find it a bit complicated.
I would now like to be able to send midi notes directly onto the DAW & also be able to use the ES as a sound module triggered by the midi data that I record on my PC & then record the audio signal back to Nuendo.Sequencing on my software seems to be a lot easier than on my ES.Can someone tell me how to do this?

Re: External sequencing with ES

Set Local Control in the Motif ES to OFF
[UTILITY] > {F5] MIDI > [SF2] SWITCH set Local Ctrl = off

In Nuendo open a MIDI track
Set the MIDI In to Motif ES-1
Set the MIDI Out to Motif ES-1

Press record - play - stop - playback

Re: External sequencing with ES

My setup is: Motif ES6, PC with XP and Nuendo.

I have not installed any plug-in boards in my motif es.
I want to ask how can I make a connection between the motif es and the pc to make a recording on midi tracks of nuendo.
My situation is simuular to “jesuscares“‘s, but I have not any mLan, installed.
How can I setup the midi-out of my synth?
Haw can I setup the devices in nuendo?

Re: External sequencing with ES

USB will only allow you to record MIDI.

In Nuendo open a MIDI track
Set the MIDI In to Yamaha Motif ES6-1
Set the MIDI Out to Yamaha Motif ES6-1

Press record - play - stop - playback

Re: External sequencing with ES

Here is something in addition to my question on top (original question ).Since I’m not too happy with the ES keys,I got myself a soft touch midi keyboard.I would like to add this to my set up stated above so I can input midi notes through the midi keyboard onto Nuendo & use the ES as a sound source. How do I do this?

Re: External sequencing with ES

Very simple. Connect both keyboards to your computer, select appropriate MIDI track in Nuendo. Than for MIDI input select a soft touch MIDI keyboard and for MIDI output select Motif.

Re: External sequencing with ES

Connect the MIDI OUT of your soft touch keyboard to the MIDI IN of the Motif ES. It’s MIDI signal will be merged with the Motif ES and arrive in the Nuendo on port 1 (same as the ES) - nothing else need be done!

You can play either keyboard. The ES is your USB interface - MIDI IN/OUT = USB… this means it will receive data coming in the MIDI IN jack and merge it to PORT 1. So Nuendo will not care which set of keys you play - you can play one or the other or both simultaneously.. Nuendo will see them as the same.
