I’ve recently started playing in a small African-American Baptist church.  I really enjoy what I’m doing, and the people in the church enjoy it too, but I’m having trouble with the chords that are used to back a preacher.  I’ve listened to preacher chords from several YouTube videos over and over again, but I just can’t get my preacher chords to sound right, because I’m so new at this.  I have an ear for music, and I usually learn quickly, but this is the most challenging thing I’ve ever learned.  Any tips and help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Preacher chords

You might try over at http://www.gospelchops.com to see if you can glean any goodies from there.

You might also head over to http://www.sninety.com (or indeed change your address on your motiforum so that the final entry reads Cat= rather than Cat=2,4 5) which is a related site to Motiforum and is chiefly about the S90 and S90ES - why do that? Cos it has a category called “Sanctuary” which is for such questions as these /forums/images/icons/smile.gif alt= and which would get you plenty of sympathetic ideas.

Cheers

Re: Preacher chords

Thanks!  I’ll try both of those.  They’ll probably help me a great deal.
