I can’t see the volume control causing the problem. However, on many pedals, the battery can drain when the instrument cable is left plugged in, so there might be a similar issue with an active guitar.

Yes, I appreciate he does not use a pedal, and that the batteries are in his bass guitar. I just meant that maybe he leaves his bass plugged in and, like the issue with a pedal, it could be a similar problem with his bass.

Re: What can be the reason? A short in the wiring can cause the voltage drain. He needs to check his wiring for cold solder joints and re-solder them. Get a multimeter and check the pots; pots do go bad. Have a tech do it if he’s squeamish about working on his wiring. |
