I’m going through the tutorials for Sonar 6 and I am on tutorial 4. I open the tutotrial. There are 3 MIDI tracks with data, drum, bass, organ. When I press play, no sound. So now I know I must set up the MIDI out for each track. If the bass track is already using a Patch, in this case, Electric Bass and I set the MIDI output to my Alesis Firewire Iaudio interface) shouldn’t I hear something? In messing around with it I set the Output to 2-Yamaha MO8-1, channel 1, bank none and Patch to synth bass and now I hear sound but of course it is using the sound from my keyboard. Why won’t it use the Synth bass sound from the patch?

Re: Midi settings are they correct?

Chances are you need to set the MO to GM mode.  Most of those tutorials are using GM patching.

Re: Midi settings are they correct?

I was able to get it working. I switched from using straight midi to using the USB-Midi. I had to go back in and map my MO8 instruments to the new USB-Midi channel.
