I’m in the market for a mixer that will allow me to input my ES8, Roland V-Drums, guitar, mike, and ipod. I have the mlan going to Cubase for recording currently...which works good for recording the keyboard and vocals into Cubase.

Re: Best Mixer
If the the ES sounds great in headphones then what is wrong with comes out the speaker jack after going through the mixer? - you have to answer that because any mixer can sound bad if not used properly… no need to buy a more expensive board if you are going to run into the same problem (and I believe something is amiss).

Re: Best Mixer
Sometimes this can be down to the fact that whilst you are listening to your ES in Stereo, you may have your mixer connected so that the es comes out in mono with some sounds cancelling and sounding ‘bad’ - phasing, eq notches and so on. If you take the L+R outs of the ES and plug them into 2 channels of the mixer, you need to make sure that those channels are then PANNED, put the L one fully around to the Left and the R one fully around to the Right.

Re: Best Mixer
I decided upon a used Mackie 1404 VLZ PRO in excellent condition. I made my decision with the thinking I’d rather have a well known, solid mixer I could count on for years to come and ignore the bells and whistles of built-in compression, effects and audio interfaces. I’ll just continue to use my Lexicon Omega which runs fine.

I personally like Allen & Heath MixWizard. It sounds absolutely awesome and the preamps are the best.
