Re: noise using usb
Although it has been discussed at length, I didn’t find any real solutions. Only work arounds.

Re: noise using usb The problem is not in your Motif! It’s in any computer. Don’t buy another MIDI port box! Just get a ground loop isolator from Radio Shack, and you’ll be ready to go! A direct box will also fix your problem. You’re going to run into this noise problem no matter what keyboard or computer you have. It doesn’t just happen with USB either. If you connect the audio out on your computer to the AD input on your Motif, you’ll get the exact same noise. It’s some sort of grounding issue, and the two solutions mensioned above always fix the problem. |

Re: noise using usb The ground loop isolater looks like an RCA dual audio cable, with a cylinder in the middle. The cylinder piece is what actually cancels out any ground or computer noise. For your setup, you may need two ground loop isolaters, and you’ll definitely need some RCA to quarter inch adaptors, so the ground loop isolater’s plugs can fit into your mixer. I solved my noise problem with a single ground loop isolater. If you can tell me exactly how you have your mixer connected, I can probably tell you exactly how to set up the ground loop isolater, and how many of them you will need. |

Re: noise using usb
This is NOT correct. The Motif Rack’s (like all of the Motif class synthesizer’s) analog outputs and inputs use unbalanced connections. So using balanced cables will have little if any benefit when it comes to noise.

Re: noise using usb
My appologies. You are most likely correct that its NOT a balanced output. Somewhere I thought I saw the balanced connection but I can’t find that now, and even looking in the manual it does not mention it being a balanced out. So without knowing for sure I shouldn’t have assumed it was.
