Re: Controlling the Pitch or PEG of an voice elem
I may as well answer my own question since I had to beat the bushes to find the answer and maybe someone else out there can benefit from it…
The trick is to completely disable the pitch bend wheel by setting PB Upper and PB lower to zero on the voices Gen Info screen. Now the only thing that can affect pitch of a voice element is a control set. So you disable all other control sets (so you can start from scratch) and then assign one a source of PB and a destination of either Fine or Course pitch. Then dial in the depth until it sounds right. My particular voice happend to be a violin for a fiddle solo which happened to have a predominant drone note (as fiddle solos often do) so I set the key follow sensitivity on the Pitch screen for that element to zero and set it’s center key (CntrKy) value to the drone note I needed. I applied the Pitch Bend control set ONLY to the other non-drone elements and it works like a charm. I don’t have to play the drone note so I can do the solo with one finger (at a time that is). If I hadn’t zeroed the PB Upper and PB Lower settings the drone elemet would have change pitch in unison with other elements.
